1 cup lentils, washed and soaked
1 cup rice, washed
1 medium-sized onion, chopped
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon turmeric
4 cups water
Method :
1.Heat the oil in a pot over medium heat and add the chopped onion. Stir until it becomes golden.
2.Add the lentils and rice, and stir for 2-3 minutes.
3.Add the water and let it boil, then stir the ingredients.
4.Add the cumin, turmeric, salt, and black pepper. Stir the ingredients well.
5.Cover the pot and let the mixture cook over low heat for 20-25 minutes or until the lentils and rice are tender and cooked.
6.Serve the delicious lentil mujadara and accompany it with yogurt sauce if desired.
7.You can add chopped garlic for an additional flavor.
